No Health Insurance For Forty Million Americans PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 07 January 2007

The number of Americans without health insurance has increased steadily over the past 25 years. Lack of health insurance is obviously more common among people with low incomes and causes roughly 18,000 unnecessary deaths in this country every year. This is not a statistic for us to be proud of. Although approximately 56% of Americans favor some sort of taxpayer supported health insurance, nothing much changes.

Until such changes occur, everyone needs to seek out health insurance coverage for themselves and their families. Obviously, having health insurance is much healthier than not having it. Since health insurance is one of your most important needs you must consider a company’s health insurance policy when you interview for a job. Sometimes even a part time or casual labor job will offer some kind of health insurance, although with rising costs this is not the norm. If you are self employed, you must contact insurance offices yourself and they will help you compare rates.

Health insurance policy rates are certainly not the only thing to consider when you compare policies. This is where an insurance professional is invaluable. They will explain things about each policy in black and white and usually recommend a company to you that will satisfy your family’s needs. You will find it rather amazing how different health insurance coverage may be. Some people are under the impression that if you have health insurance you are covered for virtually anything, including long term care. This is generally not true and you must rely on the insurance professional to sort this all out for you.

Some of you, reading this article, are thinking to yourselves that health insurance is way out of your reach. With health costs going up the way they are, you cannot afford to be without coverage. You need to find a way to budget for the monthly premium or work for a company that will supply group coverage. There isn’t anything in life more important than your health and insuring it is an extremely worthwhile expenditure. Be aware of the fact that there are unauthorized health care sales going on all of the time in this country. These are financially and emotionally harmful schemes and you should take care not to fall prey to them. Talk to an insurance professional and buy the best health insurance policy you can possibly afford.
